In my free time I’m the director of web development for a small-but-growing web applications and design shop in Boulder where I help build applications using ColdFusion, Java, Ruby on Rails, SQL, and the odd bit of creative JavaScript. At the moment I’m managing a team of 5 or so ColdFusion and Java developers, and I’m having a great time implementing a custom content management framework in Ruby on Rails for a new client.

In a previous life I was a historian. I graduated from Gustavus Adolphus College in Minnesota in 1995 with a Bachelor’s degree in History, and followed that up with a Master’s degree in Modern European History at the University of Chicago in 1997. I left the doctoral program at Chicago when I realized that I was much more passionate about building the Department of History’s web page than I was reading about a bunch of dead guys.

Right now I’m working on my second Master’s (in Software Engineering) via Regis University in Denver. In my free time.
